Design strategy is a method by which companies or brands design "how to communicate and embody these ideas to society, markets, and customers" from a medium-to-long-term perspective in order to achieve their vision and mission. This is not about using design as superficial decoration or a temporary measure, but a strategic approach that closely links with management and marketing to clarify and concretize brand value and meaning.
At RIDS, we believe that a brand's thinking and attitude should be reflected in every detail of the design. For example, at Disneyland, all elements that hinder the "Kingdom of Dreams and Magic" worldview are thoroughly eliminated, and this consistency generates trust and resonance with the brand. This demonstrates the importance of consistent detail and philosophical integration.
By carefully observing touchpoints with users, it is possible to discover the design "key points" needed to build ideal relationships with the objects that should be connected. By clearly defining the ideal image a project should pursue and establishing the rules and guidelines needed to achieve that ideal, the activities of companies and brands will gain accelerated momentum.
※Design strategy is the stage for determining direction. Generally, using this strategy as a starting point, it connects to specific execution phases such as brand development, business development, product design, and spatial design.
Duration: Approximately 1 month
Visualize the current situation and issues. Is the message being appropriately communicated to the intended audience? Are there discrepancies in presentation or communication methods? Analyze these points from multiple angles to grasp the current positioning and gaps.
Scope of Work: Interviews / Hearings / Workshop Implementation / Existing Communication Analysis (Web, Advertising, Products, etc.)
Duration: 3–6 months
Based on the analysis results, we set hypotheses for the ideal state of the brand or business, as well as the specific mechanisms and expressions needed to achieve that state, and design the overall framework. We document and structure medium-to-long-term methods that indicate the direction of brand or business development in the form of proposals or strategic documents.
