Architecture

We design spaces and buildings that embody brand philosophy while embracing circular principles through local materials and waste reuse.

How We Do It

Architecture and space are mediums that physically embody ideas. Ideas inhabit them alongside the quality of form, material, and structure, exerting long-term influence on streetscapes and people's experiences. This is not a momentary expression, but an act of three-dimensionally creating part of society, and due to the scale of the object, it carries greater responsibility than other design fields.

For this reason, architecture and space should not be designed solely based on function or appearance. It is crucial to clarify the ideas and values that symbiotically connect the design to the site or situation. Since these will persist as part of the city or streetscape for decades, it is necessary to question the attitude of building good relationships with the era and environment.

For companies and brands, architecture and space are also places where philosophy and social roles are visualized, serving as important touchpoints for conveying messages that words cannot fully express. A hastily built building directly reflects on the brand image, while conversely, an authentic space fosters trust and resonance.

Furthermore, the construction sector is said to account for about one-third of global CO₂ emissions, making environmental consideration an unavoidable theme. RIDS adopts a circular economy perspective, practicing design and construction that minimize environmental impact.

Moreover, we value sharing the ideas and values embedded in spaces with society, adopting open-source methods when necessary, and pursuing sustainable, highly public space and architectural design.

Scope of Work

Design Process

RIDS Design Process

1: Concept

Duration: Approximately 1 month

Embody and clarify the desired vision and ideas through architecture and space. While carefully interpreting the social context and the client's philosophy, articulate the unique meaning and direction of the site in words.

Scope of Work: Hearings / Site Surveys / Vision Statement Creation / Functional Requirements & User Program Organization

2: Schematic Design

Duration: 2 months ~

Study fundamental compositions such as site planning, functional zoning, and circulation design, using photorealistic renderings and models to concretize the design direction. While imagining actual scale and usage, deepen the design through multi-angle discussions and verification.

Scope of Work: Floor Plans / Sections / Zoning Plans / Rendering Production / Study Model Creation and Refinement

3: Design Development

Duration: Approximately 2 months

This is the stage where details such as materials, construction methods, and joints are determined. While accumulating the specific dimensions and technologies needed to realize the concept, sometimes experiment and innovate on the joints themselves.

Scope of Work: Preparation of Drawings for Building Materials, Equipment, and Finishes / Detail Studies / Section Sketches / Construction Feasibility Verification & Structural/Code Compliance

4: Construction Administration

Duration: Varies by project

To ensure the design intent is accurately reproduced on site, we collaborate closely with construction companies and craftsmen for supervision and adjustments. When on-site decisions are needed, we respond flexibly to ensure design completion.

Scope of Work: Site Confirmation / Construction Inspections & Detail Adjustments / Inspections & Final Completion
