Package Design

Packaging design is the first point of contact between your brand and customers — one of the most critical touchpoints in B2C business.

How We Do It

Packaging is one of the most important touchpoints where consumers first encounter a brand in B2C business. It is a highly cost-effective communication medium that delivers messages directly at the point of sale without requiring media spend like advertising.

Positioned in the intermediate field between graphic design and product design, packaging enables three-dimensional communication design through shape, structure, materials, and the opening experience, engaging both sight and touch. Traditional packaging, consumed briefly as promotional material, is sometimes viewed as a "necessary evil" from a sustainability perspective. However, in recent years, environmental consideration has been recognized as corporate social responsibility, and packaging has evolved beyond mere wrapping material into a symbolic medium that embodies brand values.

At RIDS, we integrate packaging design from the product planning stage, ensuring a unified expression between the product's essence and its outer packaging. We design packaging that balances functionality with philosophy — including forms that people want to keep after use, environmentally friendly materials and structures, and designs that consider distribution and disposal — conveying brand philosophy to consumers.

Design Process

RIDS Design Process

1: Concept

Duration: 1–2 months

Starting from product value and brand philosophy, determine the direction of the packaging. When developing concurrently with the product, there are cases where work begins with naming the product or series.

Scope of Work: User Research / Brand & Product Positioning Analysis / Naming Development

2: Specification Selection

Duration: 1 months

Concretize specifications such as packaging structure, dimensions, materials, printing, and finishing methods. Provide appropriate solutions considering cost, environmental impact, logistics, and other factors.

Scope of Work: Material Selection / Printing Method & Decorative Finishing Research

3: Design

Duration: 1–2 month ~

Integrate elements such as structure, graphics, and information design to develop packaging that intuitively conveys product appeal through both sight and touch.

Scope of Work: Graphic Design & Typography / Structural Design

4: Mockup / Prototype

Duration: 1 months

Based on prototypes, verify user experience, usability, printing and finishing accuracy. Refine details through physical adjustments to enhance completion.

Scope of Work: Sample Prototype Production / Color Proofing & Finishing Verification

5: Design Revision / Mass Production Support

Duration: 1–2 months

Submit final design data to printing companies and packaging manufacturers. While confirming color proofing, die-cutting, and assembly accuracy, we will provide comprehensive support from mass production to delivery.

Scope of Work: Production Data Submission / Color Proofing & Press Check Confirmation
