IP design is not an isolated image creation, but a reinterpretation of urban, architectural, and brand concepts through personification. Based on the interpretation of place spirit and sociality in sign design, IP must form an inherent unity with the overall wayfinding system while possessing independent narrative capability and emotional expression.
Compared to the functional guidance of signage, IP focuses more on emotional guidance. It can serve as a "virtual guide" for visitors in the space, enhancing the space's affinity and memorability through actions, expressions, postures, and material presentation. The design precision of IP is reflected in the completeness of character setting, the scalability of expressions and actions, and the degree of fit with spatial scenes.
As a three-dimensional and interactive entity, IP also possesses the textural expression and structural manifestation of physical objects. It can exist as a sculpture-like static presence or as a transformable, participatory spatial character. Its design quality directly affects the depth of brand impression and users' emotional experience.
Starting from interpreting the unique narrative of a place, RIDS proposes IP designs that reflect regional sociality, publicness, and resilience. Transforming brand concepts into approachable personal entities, achieving a softer and more enduring connection between space and people.
Duration: Approximately 1-2 months
Deeply interpret the cultural context of the project's space, brand, or city, extracting core themes and symbolic meanings that can be personified. Clarify the IP's positioning within the overall signage system — whether as a guide, guardian, or storyteller.
Scope of Work: Site Research & Brand Interpretation / Character Setting & Worldview Construction / Concept Sketching & Mood Board Creation
Duration: Approximately 2-3 months
Determine the IP's basic appearance, proportions, primary colors, and material direction. Create 2D character guidelines and preliminary 3D renderings, collaborating with architects, signage designers, and space designers to confirm the IP's presentation within the space.
Scope of Work: Main Character Design (Front/Side/Back Views, Expressions, Actions) / Basic 3D Modeling & Rendering / Spatial Integration Simulation (Perspective Drawings, Installation Locations)
Duration: Varies according to application scenarios and extension needs
Refine specifications for various IP applications, including static installations, digital moving images, and signage integration. Create a comprehensive design manual clarifying guidelines for expressions, actions, colors, materials, and usage restrictions.
Scope of Work: Multi-Scenario Extension Design (Wayfinding, Installations, Print, Screens) / Material & Process Specification Development / IP Design Manual Compilation
Duration: Varies according to object scale and production methods
Coordinate with production and construction phases, participating in material sampling, color confirmation, and model supervision. Ensure the complete transmission of design intent during the physical or digital implementation of the IP.
Scope of Work: Sample Supervision & Material Confirmation / On-site Production Coordination & Acceptance / Post-Installation or Launch Effect Inspection & Adjustment
