The core idea of this work is the "community" spirit.
The community spirit mainly embodies a kind of "similarity." This similarity is both the result of communal living and the prerequisite for the formation of the community spirit.
1. Taking "benevolence (humanity)" as the foundation to promote mutual affection among community members;
2. Treating each other with "propriety" to regulate interpersonal relationships among community members;
3. Cultivating a sense of belonging and identity among community members through "harmony."
"Community" — The Analects Chain
Type | Installation Art
This work uses viewing as a way to foster face-to-face connections between people, a theme that runs through much of our work.
When the viewer is placed within this work, a situation of "seeing and being seen" is formed. This "being" and "being existed" simultaneously form a community, which is the foundation for us to explore how social, cultural, and political networks are formed in the city.
The visual interaction and spatial layout of this work create an opportunity for a game of sharing knowledge.
We seek to create environments where children can imagine and invent new ways to play.
This spatial installation is flexible in its venue requirements and can adapt to multiple locations and configurations. Its modular design allows for installation in different spaces.
The fonts on the wall (The Analects) are randomly combined, thus enhancing the entertainment value while sharing knowledge; whereas the design of the five doors (Benevolence, Justice, Propriety, Wisdom, Trust) is strictly regular, because we aim to provide an almost infinite set of paths and ways of viewing.
