Please Remember My Name

"People are born free, living for their own existence, not for the existence of others."

Please Remember My Name
Type | Exhibition

Today, what we see in the world is nothing but monotonous imitation, copying, and shanzhai. The destruction of individual and self-consciousness is no longer the consequence of great disasters; the monotonous daily life in any city is sufficient. The daily life of modern people can no longer be transformed into anything interesting. Children are not exempt from this! This boring fact makes daily life more unbearable than ever before, not because of the low quality of life or a lack of meaning compared to the past.
The child not only cares about the emperor's new clothes but also firmly understands and knows himself. This is mischief, but here also lies the seed of the "courage and wisdom to challenge the highest authority" in childhood. It is hoped that this meaning will be passed down, while also needing the care and nourishment of parents. It is here that the weakness and strength of childhood flicker.
In this sense, the "fetishism of taking" with Chinese characteristics is undoubtedly evident in some adults. Perhaps this is to cater to some kind of market commercial interest, one cannot know, but what it conveys is merely naive and ignorant foolishness. The young artists participating in this exhibition excite us as we see their own attitude. Perhaps words like thought or symbol are too serious to apply to a group of young artists, yet this attitude will confidently speak their own names. Contemporary art endows the spirit of doubt and a critical stance.
Through this exhibition, we also want to express: they can break free from the negative constraints of imitation and copying, maintaining their own unique spirit. They have not lost themselves, letting the works tell everyone: Please remember my name!
