"Si Bei Tong Jin" is a narrow street located in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou, China. It originally belonged to the Dongshan District, but since Dongshan District has been abolished, this area has been merged into Yuexiu District. To the east, it connects to Dadao Road, and to the west, it links to Miaoqian Zhijie. Along both sides of the street are many early Guangzhou examples of Chinese-Western eclectic "Dongshan small western-style houses." Among them, Yuyuan Garden, one of the five major overseas Chinese gardens in Dongshan, is located on this street. Additionally, the Dongshan Christian Church and Guangzhou No.7 Middle School are also situated near this street. "Jin" means wharf or pier. In Guangzhou, it historically referred specifically to piers along the Pearl River, and many small roads near the river were named with "Tongjin." "Si" refers to a temple that once existed in Dongshan: the Dongshan Temple. "Bei" means "back" or "behind." According to the Guangzhou Place Name Gazetteer, the explanation is: "Behind the Dongshan Temple (commonly known as the Eunuch Temple)," and it was once the passage used by residents of the Sibeidi Village. Taken together, the name means "the road behind Dongshan Temple leading to the riverside pier."
